public.

On January 28, 2010 an allegation was made to the Election Committee that candidate Jenna Goodhand was in violation of the Federation of Students’ Election Procedures. The allegation read as follows:

Dear Elections Committee,

I would like to allege that Jenna Goodhand is using unapproved campaign materials, which is the Trademark of the sorority she is in , Kappa Kappa Gamma.

She mentions their name, logo, shows letters, and even has pictures with the trademarked name in it. This is breaking the law, as well... breaking the law for personal gain.

Here, you can find the information from headquarters website:

Her illegal usages are found here:

her text on the wesbite is

"Before you jump to conclusions of pillow fights and wild parties, let me first break-down the misconceived stereotypes that all sororities are about booze, boys and mad bills. I can’t speak for all sororities, but
having been a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) at UW since first year, I can tell you that we are quite different than what’s been showcased in movies. For me – and I think my sisters would agree – KKG is about supporting the bonds of friendship through our university days, while encouraging each other to give of ourselves to the world, building both confidence and leadership skills while striving to set a positive example for those around us.

I held numerous leadership positions in KKG, including:

  • VP Standards:
Respect and confidentiality of members needs and circumstances/managing conflict between members
  • VP Philanthropy:
Planning and bringing awareness to issues on campus,
in the community and the world at large. I was Philanthropy for two years and with the help of these loving women we earned the National Philanthropy Award out of more than 100 chapters.
  • VP Education:
Conducted workshops and training sessions on issues ranging from ‘The Importance of Voting’ to ‘Learning to Manage Stress’

The Election Committee has determined that this is not in violation of Council Procedure 6. Whether or not the candidate in question has illegitimately made use of the words Kappa Kappa Gamma or the letters KKG is not under the Election Committee’s purview. The Election Committee does not take issue with the use of the Kappa Kappa Gamma
name, as it does not unfairly advantage the candidate in question. Additionally the use of the Kappa Kappa Gamma name is an issue that is between the candidate and the organization and it is not the position of the Election Committee to govern how the Kappa Kappa Gamma name is used.
